Our projects – Diaspora builds bridges
The Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) It is one of the most resource-rich countries in the world – and at the same time one of the poorest. Over 73% of the population lives below the poverty line, millions of children are malnourished, and widows and orphans are particularly vulnerable. World Bank
While Europe benefits from the Congo's raw materials – such as cobalt, copper or coltan, which are used in smartphones, batteries and future technologies – the local people often bear the burden of conflicts, exploitation and unstable structures. Global supply chains directly link Europe to the fate of the Congolese population.
Our role as a diaspora organization
The Fondation La Grande is more than an aid organization: We are a Diaspora organization, founded by people from the Democratic Republic of Congo living in Europe. This gives us a unique perspective and a crucial added value:
- Cultural proximity: We know the language, traditions and needs of the local people.
- Global bridging function: We live in Europe, are networked there, and can effectively transfer funds, knowledge and resources to the Congo.
- Trust & TransparencyAs part of the community, we enjoy credibility – our help reaches those most in need directly.
- Complementary effect: We complement international aid programs with local knowledge and personal networks.

Where?
With your donation, you will build an orphanage and a supervised retirement home for elderly widows! Your donation will provide for the daily well-being of 16 widows and 12 orphans in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Every euro helps and counts!
Why your donation counts
As a diaspora, we have a responsibility to build bridges between Europe and Africa – not only morally, but also practically. Your donation has a double impact:
- Right on site: Aid reaches widows and orphans in the Congo directly.
- Global & sustainable: They strengthen fair supply chains, social justice and European solidarity.
With your support you give hope – locally in the Congo and globally for a just world.
